Preparation -- 5 minutes

Finely dice the onion. Crush the garlic and finely slice. Remove fresh basil leaves from its stem and finely chop using a chefs knife and cutting board.

Finishing up the budget macaroni casserole with ham -- 15 minutes

Fill the large pan with water and bring to a boil. Cook the macaroni according to package. Heat up the deep skillet, add in olive oil and sauté the garlic and onion.

Add in tomato paste and cook for a few minutes to soften its flavour. Add in diced ham and whipped cream, stir well and heat up. By now the macaroni will be cooked, remove from the large pan using a skimmer.

No need to drain the macaroni since the moisture really helps the sauce to blend well. Add in the chopped up basil and stir well using a wooden spoon. Season with pepper and serve immediately. Enjoy your meal!
