Making your own fajita seasoning is very easy and has the advantage that you can adjust it to your own taste. Cheaper, containing less salt and none of the sugar or preservatives you find in ready-made fajita mixes.
Ingredients
- half teaspoon chilli powder
- one and a half tablespoons of smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder or flakes
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- half teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin seeds
- pinch of salt
This fajita spice blend is made with ready-ground spices, so there is no pestle and mortar involved. Quick and easy, you only have to combine the spices, then you can use the seasoning straight away to flavour your fajita filling.
You can use chicken, any minced meat, or steak for your filling.
The fajita seasoning can be stored for a very long time in a tightly closed jar, meaning that you can make yourself fajitas in no time.
