Earlier we wrote about nasi goreng spice mix, how easy it is to make your own. There isn't an enormous difference between the two spice mixes, so you can use them for nasi and/or bami. We tried to figure out the theoretical difference, but without success. So this difference is more an opinion than a fact.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon laos
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1,5 teaspoon cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons ground paprika
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley

You can choose to purchase them already ground for you, but you can easily ground them yourself using a pestle and a mortar. Start with the cardamom, since you can only use the seeds. Once you've removed the pods, you can add the rest of the spices into the mortar. Make a stamp and press movement to get the best result. How to make bami goreng spice mix How to make bami goreng spice mix Store the spice mix in an airtight jar, such as a preserving jar. This way you will always have a batch of bami goreng spice mix within reach. Enjoy! We put up an easy bami goreng recipe using this spice mix, hope you like it!

I always wondered what the difference was between bami and nasi goreng...I thought it was just rice vs noodles haha. I will try this today. Love your website, bookmarked for rainy day adventures.

Thank you for the recipe, I will now make my own mix, the Cominex mixes I get at the Dutch store is so salty, I get a bloated face every time. This should do the trick. I will also add the dried vegies that are in the prepared mixes.

I totally agree on the saltiness of the Conimex mixes (at the Dutch stores). Adding the dried veggies is a great idea :)

Where did you find laos spice?

Hi Miranda, I bought laos spice at an Asian supermarket. Have a great evening!

I like this bami mix, and again will use it today. I just add coleslaw as mix. Works great and saves a lot of time..

I am so glad for this spice mix recipe. I am extremely sensitive to MSG and salt, now I can make my own without those 2 added ingredients. I can now make my bami and nasi lower in salt and no MSG. Thank you so much.
