Asian bowl with chicken

A delicious Asian bowl with chicken, rice noodles, crispy vegetables, and a simple sauce. A quick dinner that is ready in less than half an hour.

For an Asian bowl with chicken, you can use different types of vegetables. You can also use either rice noodles or rice, as an Asian bowl is a fusion of various Asian cuisines.

The simple sauce made of soy sauce, honey, and garlic combines perfectly with chicken, rice noodles, and crunchy vegetables. You can optionally marinate the chicken in the sauce first, but this is not necessary for a quick meal.

Making the Asian Bowl with Chicken – 30 minutes

Wash the cucumber, remove the seeds with a spoon if necessary, and cut the cucumber into half slices.

Peel the carrot and cut it into thin strips, it's best to use a vegetable peeler for this.

Wash the radishes and cut them in half or quarters. Drain the corn.

Remove excess fat and muscles from the chicken breasts and season the chicken with pepper and salt.

Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan and cook the chicken until it’s golden brown on both sides.

Then cook the chicken for another 10 minutes or so, until it’s fully cooked. The exact time depends on the thickness of the chicken breasts.

Meanwhile, peel the garlic clove and chop it finely. Make the sauce by mixing garlic, honey, and soy sauce.

Place the rice noodles in a medium bowl and pour boiling water over them. Cover with plastic wrap and let the noodles soften for about 10 minutes. Stir the noodles once in between with a fork.

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and peel, and slice the avocado.

Drain the rice noodles and rinse them with lukewarm water to prevent them from sticking together. Divide the noodles between 4 bowls.

Top the noodles with the corn, cucumber, radishes, avocado, carrot, and soybeans.

Slice the cooked chicken and place it on top of the vegetables. Finish with the sauce and sesame seeds. Enjoy your meal!

You can vary a lot in an Asian bowl, and you can serve it with rice noodles (mihoen) or rice. For the other ingredients, you can use different types of vegetables such as carrot, edamame (soybeans), cucumber, corn, and avocado. You can use chicken, but also beef, tofu, tempeh, or different types of fish.

What is the difference between an Asian Bowl and a Poké Bowl?

An Asian bowl is a broad term for various Asian cuisines. The ingredients can come from different cuisines, so it might be a combination of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese food, for example.

A Poké bowl has much more specific ingredients because this type of bowl comes from Hawaii. For instance, a Poké bowl is traditionally always served with sushi rice, and the flavors are generally lighter.
