Finely chop the shallots and garlic and set aside. Cook the lentils according to the instructions on the package.

Heat a large frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add a large knob of butter and fry the chicken legs for 10 minutes until golden brown. Add the shallots and garlic.

Deglaze the pan with a good splash of red wine and add the chopped tomato. Lower the heat and let it simmer for half an hour. Add the cooked lentils to the frying pan of tomato sauce.

Taste and season with salt and pepper. Serve the chicken legs in lentil and tomato sauce with, for example, homemade mashed potatoes. Enjoy your meal!

Hello from Massachusetts in the USA! Should the lentils be drained? I’m making this right now and you’re probably asleep, so I’ll have to intuitively make this, but would love to know how you do it. I’m using French lentils and they smell so good on the stove!
