Preparation – 5 minutes

Wash the apples and celery stalks. Peel, core and roughly dice the apples. Cut the celery stalks into thin slices using the mandoline. If you don't have one, use a chef's knife instead.

Crush the walnuts, we found it easy to put the walnuts in a zip-loc bag and bash it with something heavy like a rolling pin. This is a good mess-free way of crushing walnuts!

Making the crunchy apple salad – 5 minutes

In a large bowl, combine apples, celery, raisins and crushed walnuts. Add mayonnaise and toss to coat the salad. There is not much more to it.

Cover with some cling film and refrigerate until serving; enjoy! This crunchy apple salad goes well with fatty foods such as duck or pork. The freshness of the apples complements such dishes.
