A KFC Zinger burger is an extra crispy chicken burger with a slightly spicy sauce. The chicken is marinated in a flavorful buttermilk marinade, then coated in a spicy batter that is fried to perfection.
This homemade Zinger burger, like the one from KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), features a lightly spicy chicken patty with an extra thick crispy coating full of spices.
The chicken becomes extra tender thanks to the buttermilk marinade, and it gets a delicious, thick coating that will get ultra-crispy when fried. It's delicious with burger sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Of course, serve it with fries, or you can also serve it with fried onion rings.

Remove any excess fat and sinew from the chicken breasts, then place them between two pieces of plastic wrap. Use a meat mallet or something heavy to flatten them out. Make sure they are evenly thin so they cook evenly.
Then, cut the flattened chicken breasts in half.
Mix buttermilk with 1 teaspoon of sriracha, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic powder, paprika, and salt.
Mix well and place the chicken breasts in the seasoned buttermilk. Let the chicken marinate for about 4 hours.
Take 8 leaves of iceberg lettuce from the head and set them aside. Remove the core of the tomatoes and slice them. Also, slice the pickles.
Make the burger sauce by mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Heat a good amount of sunflower oil or another neutral oil in a thick-bottomed pan for frying.
Mix all the ingredients for the breading (flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper).
Take the chicken breasts out of the buttermilk, shaking off most of the excess buttermilk back into the bowl.
Mix 60 grams of flour into the buttermilk marinade, stirring until smooth.
Bread the chicken breasts by first dipping them in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
Then dip them in the buttermilk marinade and coat them with flour again. Finally, dip them in the buttermilk marinade once more. This will create a thick, crispy breading on the chicken.
Fry the breaded chicken for about 8 to 10 minutes, making sure the chicken is fully cooked and the outside is golden brown.
Let the chicken drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Immediately place a slice of cheese on top of the chicken, so it can melt.
Serve the fried chicken with cheese on a burger bun, topped with iceberg lettuce, tomato, pickles, and finish with the burger sauce. You can serve it with fries. Enjoy your meal!
Can I make the chicken burger in advance?
It's best to serve the chicken burger right after frying, but you can reheat the fried chicken in the oven or air fryer if needed.
Is a Zinger burger spicy?
A Zinger burger is mildly spicy. You can make it spicier by adding more sriracha and/or cayenne pepper.
