Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic cloves.
Remove the hard core from the Hispi cabbage, then slice the cabbage into fine strips. The easiest way to do this is to cut the cabbage into quarters, then you can finely shred each portion.
Heat a wok over a high heat and wait for it to smoke. Add a dash of neutral oil, such as sunflower.
Add the cabbage and stir occasionally for 3-5 minutes. Add the chopped onion and garlic and fry for 2 minutes more.
Season the Hispi cabbage with 5 tablespoons of soy sauce and 3 tablespoons of ginger syrup. Add 2 teaspoons of sambal oelek to give your cabbage a gentle kick.
You can use other types of chilli sauce, and add more if you want the cabbage to be extra spicy. Enjoy your meal!
Can I substitute the ginger syrup?
You can replace the ginger syrup with grated fresh ginger if you wish.
Is Hispi cabbage healthy?
Hispi cabbage is incredibly healthy because it contains more vitamin C than regular white cabbage. In addition to the large amount of vitamin C, Hispi cabbage contains a lot of fibre.
