Making homemade tortillas is easy, quick, and cheap. Perfect when you don't have wraps at home or need to watch your budget, as they are mainly made from flour and water.
Making homemade tortillas is not difficult and you can do it with flour and water. For soft and elastic wraps, you also add oil and baking powder, and for flavor, you add salt.
You can make the wraps as big or small as you want, but it’s important not to make them too thick so they are easier to fold. However, if they are too thin, they will break easily as they will become too crispy when cooking.

Mix flour with baking powder and salt. Add 3 tablespoons of neutral oil, like sunflower oil.
Gradually pour in warm water while mixing until you have a smooth dough. The dough is ready when it is soft and a little sticky.

Let the dough rest for about half an hour. Divide the dough into 4 or 6 equal parts, depending on how big you want the wraps to be.
Dust the countertop and rolling pin with flour and roll each piece of dough thinly.

Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat and cook each wrap until golden brown on both sides.

Repeat for all wraps and keep them under a clean kitchen towel to stay warm and soft.
You can fill these tortilla wraps with, for example, ground meat and beans or try a vegetarian version with cauliflower. Enjoy your meal!
Can I leave out the baking powder?
You can leave out the baking powder, but it helps make the tortilla wrap softer, which means it will break less easily when rolled.
How long can I store homemade wraps?
You can store homemade wraps for up to 3 days. You can reheat them by sprinkling a little water on them and then quickly cooking them again in a (cast iron) skillet.
