You can use a variety of pork meat. Such as pork steak or cutlets. Use meat that isn't too fat but not too lean too for extra flavour.
Start by preparing the pita bread, but you can use store-bought ones too. You would only have to heat them in the oven or toaster before serving.
Create the garlic sauce to allow the flavours to infuse. But you can also use read-made garlic sauce for convenience.
Slice the pork meat into thin strips. Mix well with 2 tablespoons of the shawarma spice mix. Let this marinate for at least half an hour.
Peel half a red onion and slice into thin rings. Thinly slice the iceberg lettuce. Rinse the red bell pepper and remove the seeds, then slice it into small pieces.
Wash the cucumber and cut in (half) slices.
Heat a splash of oil in a large skillet. Cook the marinated strips of shawarma for about 5 minutes on high heat. The exact cooking time can vary, depending on how thick the meat has been sliced.
Slice open a pita bread, add in garlic sauce, iceberg lettuce, cucumber, red onion and bell pepper. Finish by adding in the cooked shawarma meat and more garlic sauce. Enjoy your meal!
