Smoked salmon pizza

Smoked salmon pizza is easy to make; with just a handful of ingredients you can turn out this pizza bianca (white pizza) in no time.

A lighter pizza, topped with smoked salmon, lemon and capers is perfect if you're after a quick pizza fix. For an even faster pizza, you can use ready-made pizza dough or pizza bases.

Pizza tastes best when baked on a pizza stone (a flat stone which you place in the oven; its heat produces a crispier pizza). This is optional, but recommended for people who regularly make their own pizza.

Making pizza dough – 10 minutes + waiting time

Start by making the pizza dough. If you are not going to make the dough yourself, you can skip this step.

Making the smoked salmon pizza – 20 minutes

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. If using, place a pizza stone in the oven.

Dust the work surface and rolling pin (if using) with flour and roll out the dough. Spread a thin layer of crème fraîche over the surface, but leave the edges clear.

Sprinkle a handful of capers over the pizza, along with a little pepper. It is not necessary to season with salt because the capers and salmon are both quite salty.

Bake the pizza until golden brown and cooked to your liking (around 10 to 15 minutes). The exact baking time depends on the oven, pizza stone and the thickness of your pizza dough.

Finish the pizza with slices of smoked salmon, coarsely chopped chives and lemon zest. Enjoy!
