You can serve a scoop of ice cream with these bananas flambé, such as chocolate, vanilla or coconut ice cream.
Finely grate the zest of the orange and squeeze the juice. Peel the bananas, you can cut them in half lengthwise, but this is optional.
Melt the butter in a large skillet and carefully add the bananas. Fry them nicely brown and carefully turn them over. Add the cane sugar and caramelize briefly. Pour in the orange juice along with the zest.
After a few minutes, pour in the rum and flambé it by tilting the pan near the stove flame. If you don't have a flame, you can also keep a long lighter. Be careful with the (extractor) hood.
Wait for the flame to go out, then transfer the fried bananas to plates. Pour some of the orange sauce and serve with a scoop of ice cream.
Garnish with nougatine nuts and a sprig of fresh mint, if you like. Enjoy!
