Making the parsnip fries – 30 minutes

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Peel the parsnips and cut them into strips, not too thick but not too thin either. Make sure they are as even as possible so they will cook at the same time.

Mix the parsnips with 2 teaspoons of garlic powder and 2 teaspoons of smoked paprika. Season with salt and pepper and a dash of olive oil.

Mix well, then spread out the parsnip fries on a baking tray. Roast the parsnips for around 20 to 25 minutes until nicely golden brown and crispy. The exact baking time depends on your oven and the size of the fries.

Serve as a side dish or for lunch with, for example, garlic sauce to dip. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives, if desired. Enjoy!

Parsnip Fries: frequently asked questions

What does parsnip taste like?

The taste of parsnip is best described as slightly sweet with earthy notes. Many say it has a slight aniseed-like flavour.

Can I cook the parsnip fries in an air fryer?

You can cook the parsnip fries in an air fryer as well as in the oven. As an air fryer is really a small fan oven, the fries won't take as long to cook. Don't crowd the air fryer basket or the parsnips won't crisp up.
