A creamy pistachio tiramisu is basically a classic tiramisu with the addition of pistachio cream for an extra full flavor. The amaretto adds an extra warm and balanced taste.

Pistachio has a soft, subtle, and mild nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with creamy mascarpone, cocoa powder, coffee, and amaretto. You can also replace the amaretto with marsala, frangelico, or even limoncello.

If you don't have espresso, you can brew an extra strong coffee as long as the coffee flavor is clearly present.

Preparation - 20 minutes

 Separate the eggs and whisk the egg yolks until they are white and fluffy.

Whip the cream until it is thick, about yogurt consistency.

Mix the pistachio cream with the whipped cream into the egg yolks and stir until smooth.

Add the mascarpone and whisk as little as possible, or else the mascarpone will become liquid.

Degrease the bowl and whisk of the electric mixer, you can do this with a few drops of lemon juice and kitchen paper.

Whip the egg whites until stiff; there is no need to add sugar since the pistachio cream is already sweet.

Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture and set aside.

Making pistachio tiramisu - 10 minutes + waiting time

Mix 100 ml of espresso with 4 tablespoons of amaretto. Dip the ladyfingers on one side into the espresso and arrange them at the bottom of a large baking dish.

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over them. Dip the remaining ladyfingers on one side into the espresso and place them in the baking dish.

Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the baking dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Before serving, dust the pistachio tiramisu with cocoa powder and chopped pistachios. Enjoy!

Tips!

What drink is used in tiramisu?

In the classic version of tiramisu, marsala is used. You can replace this with, for example, amaretto, frangelico, or even limoncello in this pistachio tiramisu. For other types of tiramisu, you can also use orange liqueur or coffee liqueur.

How long can I store tiramisu?

You can keep tiramisu covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
