Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius and grease a bundt cake tin well with butter. Dust with a thin layer of flour, if desired.
Beat the butter and sugar until fluffy with a stand mixer, this will take about 5 minutes.
Add the eggs, one at a time, adding the next egg only when the previous one is fully incorporated into the batter.
Sift the flour and baking powder and gradually add to the batter. Mix until the batter is smooth, and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Spread the batter into the bundt mould and bake the cake until cooked through and nicely golden brown (around 1 hour).
You can use a wooden skewer to check if the cake is done; if it comes out clean the cake is ready. Dust with icing sugar and serve with butterscotch sauce, if desired. Enjoy!
